Joe Brooks, the songwriter responsible for "You Light Up My Life," a #1 mega-hit in the 70s for Debby Boone, has committed suicide at the age of 73. Brooks also wrote "If Ever I See You Again" which Roberta Flack took into the Top 40.

"Lost 45s" guest Andrew Gold has died of a heart attack at age 59. Known for hits like "Lonely Boy" and "Thank you for Being a Friend" (later the theme to "Golden Girls"), Andrew was Linda Ronstadt's bandleader in the middle 70s and was also in the early 80s group Wax.
