Joe Brooks, the songwriter responsible for "You Light Up My Life," a #1 mega-hit in the 70s for Debby Boone, has committed suicide at the age of 73. Brooks also wrote "If Ever I See You Again" which Roberta Flack took into the Top 40.

"Lost 45s" guest Phoebe Snow, a bluesy singer, guitarist and songwriter whose "Poetry Man" was a defining hit of the 1970s but who then largely dropped out of the spotlight to care for her disabled daughter, has died. She was 58.
