Jerry Leiber, the lyricist who, with his partner Mike Stoller, wrote some of the most enduring classics in the history of rock’n’roll, including “Hound Dog,” “Yakety Yak,” “Stand By Me” and “On Broadway,” died on Monday in Los Angeles. He was 78.

8/22/11 – Nickolas Ashford dead

Nickolas Ashford, one-half of the successful Motown singer-songwriter duo of Ashford & Simpson, died Monday. He and his wife Valerie were both guests on my radio show and wrote and recorded some of the best tunes of the rock era. He will be missed.
