Lulu will be retiring from touring after her upcoming concerts.

The British pop icon shocked fans on Friday when she announced that she will be retiring from touring after a career spanning six decades.

During an appearance on the Rosebud with Gyles Brandreth podcast, Lulu, 75, explained that she will perform her final tour, Champagne for Lulu, in April.

“This is actually – I’m announcing it for the first time now – this is my farewell tour, with family and friends,” the Shout hitmaker revealed.

“Because last year I did a tour that was kind of gruelling – it was successful, it went well – but you need an army to be a success in your career these days,” Lulu continued. “And I felt unsupported. But then I turned 75, and I thought, ‘You know what, I want to carry on working, but I want to do it a different way.'”

The singer added, “I’ve learned. And I’ve also become a slightly different person. I’m not afraid to be vulnerable.”

Lulu released her first single, Shout, in 1964, when she was 15 years old. She then went on to release ten Top Ten singles, including her hit song Relight My Fire with British pop group Take That.

Lulu also won the 1969 Eurovision Song Contest with her hit Boom Bang-a-Bang.

During the episode, Lulu revealed that the set list for her upcoming tour will include at least one of her biggest hits.

“I’m not going to tell you exactly what I’m going to do, but of course, I’ll have to do Boom Bang-a-Bang,” she said. “The audience want to do it by themselves anyway. You can’t not give people what they want – and more. If you’ve ever seen me on tour, just let me say, you won’t have seen me like this.”

Lulu will kick off her final tour at the London Palladium on 17 April.
